How Easy was the site to use:
  • Is the site easy to navigate?
  • Has the site been laid out logically?
  • Is it easy to find exactly what you want from the front page?
  • Can all areas of the site be accessed with just a few clicks?
  • Were there too many advertisements making it difficult to find what you want?
  • Are the site's colour scheme, fonts, sounds and graphics enhancing or distracting?
  • Does the site make heavy use of technologies such as 'Flash' that limits the accessibility to the site?
  • Is the site complete? (Sites that are visibly under construction are not rated as highly)
  • Were there any registration requirements? (Sites which require registration to view the majority of their content are not rated as highly.)
The site is then categorised and rated as below:
Associations, Professional and Regulatory Bodies, Societies.
  • Did the site offer its own content?
  • How unique is the content?
  • How wide are the range of articles and resources on the Site?
  • Was there a Links section?
Careers or General Advice site.
  • How wide are the range of articles and resources on the Site?
  • Were there any unique features offered by the site?
  • Were there any 'Ask the Expert Services' (Some sites offer a service by email allowing you to ask questions from experts)
Careers Service (Backed up by an off-line service)
  • How wide are the range of articles and resources on the Site?
  • How unique is the sites content?
  • Does the site display an address, opening times and directions?
  • Does the site display a Menu of services?
  • Was there a Links section?
  • How useful is the site to somebody not from its intended catchment area? (Sites which offer resources for a wider audience are rated higher)
An Individual Article.
  • How unique is the content of the article(s)?
  • How useful is the article(s) to the job hunter?
  • How wide is the range of articles and resources on the Site?
Job / Recruitment Site.
  • Was the search engine easy to use?
  • Was the Search Engine Flexible ?
  • What was the Quality and Quantity of the returned vacancies?
  • How up to date were the vacancies?
  • Did the site offer additional services e.g. CV writer, 'Jobs by Email'?
  • Did the site also offer general advice?
Link Directories / Portal Site.
  • How unique are the listings?
  • How comprehensive are the Listings?
  • How easy is the list to navigate?
  • Do all the links work properly?
  • Are the Links explained?
Sites offering Fee based Services.
  • How unique is the service being offered?
  • Is it clear as to precisely what item or service is being offered for purchase?
  • Does the site offer standard terms and conditions?
  • Does the site display a privacy policy?
  • Does the site display a Business name and address?
  • Does the site offer users the ability to purchase directly through the site?
  • Does the site offer a secure method of payment?
  • Does the site display a returns policy?
